General Encyclopedias

• Using the MLA style manual, write citations for two general encyclopedias which give the best coverage of your topic.
• Write a few short paragraphs comparing and contrasting the coverage of your topic in the two general encyclopedias.  Consider scope, quality, bibliographies, relevancy, and other items discussed in class.
• Provide a short list of any terms or sub topics that you found in the articles which could be used in checking the online catalog to locate books and periodicals on your topic.

• Using the MLA style manual, write a bibliographic entry for a subject encyclopedia that covers your topic.  As with general encyclopedias, check the online catalog to determine which encyclopedia to use.
• Write a few short paragraphs comparing the subject encyclopedia to the better of the two general encyclopedias.  Consider scope, quality, bibliographies, and relevancy.
• Provide a short list of additional terms or sub topics you have found in the subject encyclopedia.
